With reference to your letter of the 20th August, 1896, 17210/96, I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to acquaint you for the information of Mr. Secretary Chamberlain that the Plans for the New Hospital at Hong Kong are in a very forward state, and that the building will be commenced as soon as funds can be made available.

2. The site approved for the Hospital is that shown in red on the accompanying Tracing. It is situated above the Bowen Road at a height of between 400 and 500 feet above the sea level.
